Was Looking for relatives on my mothers side, never knew her parents, but she is from Connellsville PA and her maiden name is Elizabeth Hiles. She passed on in 2011. I Read that gunny Robert Hiles from Connellsville PA ran this site. I don't know if you are related, but mom use to tell me of a brother who served in WWII on the U.S.S. Enterprise, I think his name was Bob, or Robert.

Gunny, I was cleaning out some old file when I ran across a letter you had written. In 1992 I had the privilege of representing my command, along with four other Marines, at the 10th Anniv of the Wall. I was a young Sgt at the time and, along with the four other Marines, were extremely pleased to have met and spent time with you and the other Veterans. I never had the opportunity to thank you and Sgt John Vickery for you kind words. More importantly, thanks again for sharing with the young Marines what keeps our Corps special. Went through Boot Camp at San Diego in Sept 62, Plt 365 (Series Honor Platoon) Would like to hear from some of my boot camp buddies if any are still around and let me know how all have been. Was a great bunch of guys we had.
